I have prepared the below article following our visit to Wootton Bassett last Thursday 29th October 2009 for the repatriation of Corporal James Oakland. RMP
I publish it now not out of haste so soon after the event, but to acknowledge everybody that attended on that sad day, the residents of Wootton Bassett, all ex-servicemen and women and regular soldiers. Indeed to everyone who stood shoulder to shoulder during the passage of the cortege in that incredible silence. May we all remember together Corporal James Oakland, before he becomes just another government statistic.
Since writing this article just two weeks ago, events have overtaken us with tragic results. We will all have seen either at Wootton Bassett, or on National and indeed I am sure International Tv, the emotional scenes at Wootton Bassett yesterday Tuesday 10th November 2009. We are also reminded of all the victims of war as the Nation remembers at services across the land - To-day - 'Armistice Day' 11th November 2009.

'WE WILL REMEMBER THEM'
